Johnson County Launches PulsePoint App

June 2, 2026

When seconds matter, community connections save lives.

Johnson County Public Safety Communications, the Johnson County Health Department, and Upstream Prevention recently announced the launch of PulsePoint Respond, a free app that alerts CPR-trained community members to cardiac emergencies happening nearby so they can step in and help before EMS arrives.

What started as a prevention conversation became a life-saving tool. Upstream Prevention received a grant from the Indiana Department of Health focused on reducing overdose deaths, which included sharing information across the state about programs working in other communities. Through those conversations, leaders learned that several southern Indiana communities had successfully used PulsePoint to connect residents with health emergencies faster—particularly in areas where EMS response times are slower. That knowledge found its way home to Johnson County.

This launch is a great example of what prevention work looks like in practice: building relationships, sharing knowledge, and finding tools that protect our whole community, not just from substance misuse, but from any health crisis where fast action makes a difference.

Want to help save a life? Download PulsePoint Respond for free and make sure your CPR training is up to date. Together, we keep Johnson County safer.
