Empower’s May Highlight: Meet Donald D. Peek, Jr.

May 12, 2022

“If we can save these students…think of what we can have as a country when they get older.”

Donald D. Peek, Jr., past State Commander of Disabled American Veterans Department of Indiana (DAV), serves as the current Executive Board Chair of Empower Johnson and represents the coalition in the Business Sector of the local community. Donald has served in many roles as a representative for Veterans, Current Military Service Members, and an advocate for Smoke-Free Air Ordinances and Tobacco Prevention & Cessation Statewide.

In addition to Donald’s service to Empower and the DAV, a few of his other current roles include: service on the POW MIA Council for Indianapolis, Indy Veteran’s Day Council, and Elder and Co-Chair of the Care Team at Victory Cristian Church in Franklin, Indiana. Donald is a true public serviceman for the good of all and a wonderful asset to our Empower team.

One of Donald’s favorite things about being part of Empower is working with the Empowered Youth coalition members. He appreciates the immense value of their input to help guide the work of the entire Empower Johnson County coalition efforts. Check out his interview below to learn more about Donald and his role with both Empower and the DAV.
